The Wilcox-Hildreth varsity volleyball team went to Bertrand for Subdistricts. The volleyball team played Axtell and Eustis-Farnam. They lost to Axtell, but won against Eustis-Farnam. They played hard all season, and congrats on your win.
On Friday, the volleyball team played against Red Cloud. The game started at 5:30, and it was a non-conference away game The girls played tough, but lost. The scores of the sets are as follows: 25-12, 25-13, and 25-18. Last Thursday, the football boys played their last game of the season. The game was held at home and they played Deshler. All the boys fought hard, but ended up losing. The final score was 60-34. Good look to the boys as they start their basketball season!
Thank you to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair this fall. We surpassed our goal of $1000. Which means more free books for our school. Winners of the decorate a boot or hat contest were: Rylan Lush and Marissa Anderson. Winners for the “Knots on a Counting Rope” were Reagan Johnson and Mya Myers.
On Wednesday, October 19th, the Junior and Senior class art students traveled to UNK to participate in the annual Imagination Day. Students first went to the MONA Museum in Kearney for a fun iSpy game with the museums art work. Students were then able to sit in some art related classes provided by the University to get some hands on experience in what they are interested in. Ranging from photography to print making, there were classes for every student! Then they ate lunch on campus at the dining hall before starting their afternoon session. Overall the students enjoyed the day and learned a lot about art and what it’s like to be a student at UNK.
On Saturday, October 21st, the volleyball team headed to Southern Valley to play in a tournament. The teams participating in the tournament were Arapahoe, Bertrand, Elm Creek, North Platte St. Patrick’s, Southern Valley, and Wilcox-Hildreth. The team first played Bertrand. They fought but fell 9-25 and 21-25. Next, they played Elm Creek and lost 16-25 and 18-25. Finally, they played Arapahoe close but fell with scores of 21-25 and 23-25.
