Over the winter break, the Falcon basketball team participated in a holiday tournament. The tournament was held in Hampton, and took course over two days. On the first day of the tournament, the boys played Harvard. They played well and won with a final score of 44-34! The following day the team played Kenesaw in the championship game. They fought hard but fell to Kenesaw with a final score of 35-41. Overall, the team did great and received a runner-up plaque! Great job Falcons, and good luck at your next game!
The Falcon basketball team suffered their first lost on Tuesday, December 12th. They had a home game against Northern Valley, Kansas. The game was close, and the boys played well but lost. The final score of the game was 55-65. Their next game was on Thursday against Arapahoe. The team came out with a nice victory over the Warriors. The final score of the game was 51-40. They played one more game on Saturday. This game was home, and it was also a great win! The Falcons outscored the bulldogs 40-28! Great job Falcons! Their next game is on December 29th in Hampton! The boy’s basketball team played two more games last week! Their 3rd game of the year was on December 7th, at Shelton. The team played well and won with a final score of 69-43. Great job Falcons! They played their first home game the following day. Their opponent was Alma, and the Falcons won with a final score of 54-36! The team’s record is now 4-0! The Lady Falcon Basketball team had their first game on November 30th. They had an away game at Elwood. The JV girls played first and won! The varsity girls also played tough and came out with a win! The final score of that game was 44-42! The following day, the team played SEM. This was also an away game. The JV played tough but fell. The varsity girls followed that game. The girls played well and came out with another victory! The final score was 42-26! Good job Lady Falcons! Their next game is on Thursday, at Shelton. Girls JV will begin at 4:00 PM. The One Act team had their last competition on Monday, November 27th. They started out the year with a competition in Minden. At Minden, they placed 3rd out of 7 total teams. Their next performance was for FKC at the Tassel in Holdrege. They did well and placed 4th out of all of the teams in the conference. Their district performance was on Monday, at the Tassel in Holdrege. The winner of the district competition gets to compete at state in Norfolk. The team had a great performance and placed 5th overall! The One Act team will have one more performance at Wilcox on December 9th at 7:30 PM. The public is encouraged to go watch their last showing of “Death of a Dead Guy,” by William L. Bowman, Jr. Great season One Act team!
The Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA Chapter is having a food drive this week! The donated items are going to be collected and put into Thanksgiving baskets for our local food pantry! This is a way to help out in our community, and also a competition between classes. Whichever class collects the most by November 10th will be the proud winners of an ice cream sundae party! For every 5 items that high school students bring, they will be entered in a drawing for a special prize!

On Friday, the volleyball team played against Red Cloud. The game started at 5:30, and it was a non-conference away game The girls played tough, but lost. The scores of the sets are as follows: 25-12, 25-13, and 25-18. On Saturday, October 21st, the volleyball team headed to Southern Valley to play in a tournament. The teams participating in the tournament were Arapahoe, Bertrand, Elm Creek, North Platte St. Patrick’s, Southern Valley, and Wilcox-Hildreth. The team first played Bertrand. They fought but fell 9-25 and 21-25. Next, they played Elm Creek and lost 16-25 and 18-25. Finally, they played Arapahoe close but fell with scores of 21-25 and 23-25. On Tuesday, the volleyball team played in a triangular at Eustis-Farnam. The teams participating in the triangular were Eustis-Farnam, Pleasanton, and Wilcox-Hildreth. First they played Pleasanton and lost. The scores of the sets were, 12-25 and 12-25. Next, they played Eustis-Farnam and won! The scores of the sets were, 20-25, 25-13, and 25-19. The Falcon football team had a home game against Harvard on Friday night. Harvard is ranked 2nd in six-man football. The Falcons played tough but fell to the Cardinals. The final score of the game was 75-21. Their next game is Thursday September 21st, at Red Cloud. The game begins at 7:00 PM.
