The Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA and FFA chapters are hosting a food drive to help raise donations for the Wilcox Food Pantry. The two chapters’ goal is to reach 1,400 canned or non-perishable food items. If the goal is reached, the entire school gets December 21 off. The deadline for the goal is in two weeks, October 31. As of right now, the two chapters have 755 items. There will be collection boxes for you to drop off items at the home volleyball game Oct. 16, and at the Homecoming games on Thursday night, Oct. 18. Let’s reach our goal!
On Tuesday, September 25th, the Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA chapter traveled to Kearney for the annual Fall Leadership Conference. The conference was held at the Holiday Inn. The day consisted of listening to a motivational speaker, Billy Cordes, and attending workshops about being an FBLA officer. It was a very productive day for the members of FBLA.
On Saturday September 15, 2018 from 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM, during the Fall Festival, the Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA will be hosting a Test Drive For Your School Event sponsored by Ford. Big John’s Ford from Minden will be bringing down a variety of vehicles possibly including the following: An Edge, Explorer, Expedition, F-150, F-250, and a Fiesta. For every test-drive taken Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA, for a total of up to $6,000. What an amazing opportunity for our small town and a great way to support the organization.
You don’t have to purchase a car and you will not be hassled, just come out and test drive and help us out! Our goal is 300 drivers and each and every one of you can make this happen. The cars will be out south of the gas station in Wilcox. You must be 18 years old to test drive and only one per address is eligible to enter to raise money for our school, but anyone can drive, so bring your relatives and friends. You will fill out a short survey before and after your drive and you will be helping out a great cause!
On Thursday, April 5th through Saturday, April 7th, several FBLA students attended the State FBLA Conference in Omaha. Nearly 2,500 FBLA members from across the state of Nebraska were in attendance. The conference consisted of the judging of projects that were completed by a few Wilcox-Hildreth chapter members, as well as testing in a desired category. If a student placed in the top 3 of their chosen test field or project area, they would be rewarded with a trip to the National FBLA Conference being held this summer in Baltimore, Maryland. The students were also able to attend seminars that had a focus of “Elevating Your Future”. As the conference wound down, our local FBLA members were nervous to hear the results of everybody’s projects and tests during the three hour awards ceremony held on Saturday. The results are as follows –
E-Business, 5th Place – A team consisting of Riley P., Brooke G. and Kathryn P, in which they built a website from the ground up for a company that sold and shipped fresh produce to your door placed 5th.
Publication Design, 7th Place – A team made up of Jordyn P. and Abby Q. created several advertising medias for the same company described above. They made posters, business cards and brochures which landed them a 7th Place certificate.
Our local FLBA advisor and business teacher, Mary Martin, also received an Advisor Service Award in honor of her five years of dedication to FBLA.
Congratulations to all of our Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA members on a fantastic year of raising the bar on what it means to be a businessmen and businesswomen as well as donating their time and raising money for causes bigger than themselves.
