On Tuesday, November 14th, the high-school quiz bowl team traveled to Arapahoe to participate in their first competition of the season. After playing a match against every team that was present, they ended up with a second place finish. Congratulations to all quiz bowl members and good luck on the rest of your season!
The Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA Chapter is having a food drive this week! The donated items are going to be collected and put into Thanksgiving baskets for our local food pantry! This is a way to help out in our community, and also a competition between classes. Whichever class collects the most by November 10th will be the proud winners of an ice cream sundae party! For every 5 items that high school students bring, they will be entered in a drawing for a special prize!
As of today the second grade class is in the lead! Keep Bringing those items!!
On November 2, 2017 the Spanish and French students went to see Emir Sensini sing at the Tassel. Emir had a lot of fun activities plained, for example they had a Spanish tongue twister act when three people from the audience tried their best to pronounce hard Spanish words, and the winners got a CD with Emirs signature on it. Next year the Spanish and French students will get to see Justo Lamas preform.
The week of October 23rd-27th was Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign. Red Ribbon Week also stands for healthy living and being kind to others. This week, the elementary and high school participated in a activity called the “Kindness Rock Project.” The “Kindness Rock Project” is an activity where you paint rocks and then write an inspirational quote on it. You then place the rock outside so anyone can see it throughout their day. Thank you to all who participated!
On Wednesday, October 19th, the Junior and Senior class art students traveled to UNK to participate in the annual Imagination Day. Students first went to the MONA Museum in Kearney for a fun iSpy game with the museums art work. Students were then able to sit in some art related classes provided by the University to get some hands on experience in what they are interested in. Ranging from photography to print making, there were classes for every student! Then they ate lunch on campus at the dining hall before starting their afternoon session. Overall the students enjoyed the day and learned a lot about art and what it’s like to be a student at UNK.
On September 23rd the Wilcox-Hildreth FBLA members enjoyed an outing to Country Harvest Pumpkin Patch in Glenvil, NE. This was a fun bonding outing for Members. Everyone enjoyed the corn maze, obstacle course, moon bounce, hill slides, zip lines, homemade ice cream and much more! On the way home we even stopped at the Nielsen’s Kid U-Pick Pumpkin Patch and picked our own pumpkins.
