The boys and girls basketball teams are close to ending their season as they play their last couple of games.
Continuing the Falcon basketball season, boys and girls played Overton on Tuesday, Feb 5. On Saturday, Feb 2, both teams played Amherst in a consolation as a result from being knocked out of first round of the Fort Kearny Conference. The girls and boys fought hard but ending up losing their games, the final score of the girls being 55-31 and the boys being 71-62. Next up on the schedule, the teams played Overton on Tuesday Feb 5. Both teams played very hard but both lost with the final score of the girls being 36-23 and the boys being 76-59. This was the last home game of the season as well as senior/parents night. Thank you to all parents who came and supported our basketball teams throughout the season and thank you to the seniors for participating in Falcon basketball for the last four years! Coming near to the end of the season, the girls entered the first round of sub-districts as they played Bertrand. The girls hung in there with Bertrand throughout the night, but Bertrand ended the night with a win, the final score being 46-33. This marked the end of the 2018-19 girls basketball season. The boys’ season also came to an end as they played Arapahoe in the first round of subdistricts. Although the boys fought well, they lost the night by five points, the final score being 45-45. This marks the end of the 2018-19 boys basketball season. Congratulations to both teams on a well fought season! Good luck to boys and girls as they enter into track season!
The Falcon basketball teams continued their season as they played Loomis and Eustis Farnam. On Friday, Jan. 11, both teams played well against Loomis but ended up losing, the final score of the girls being 52-25, the final score of the boys being 67-35. On Saturday, Jan. 12, both teams played Eustis Farnam and won! The final score of the girls’ game was 57-20 and the final score of the boys’ was 57-27. On Friday, Jan 18, both teams played Axtell. The final score of the girls was 35-54. The boys played next, ending their night with a win, the final score being 46-44. On Saturday, Jan 19, the girls faced off against Amherst and fought well, but lost, the final score being 41-21. To continue their season, the Falcon basketball teams played Silver Lake on Jan 22. The girls lost the non-conference game with a score of 44-30. The end the night, the boys played next and ended the evening with a win, the final score being 61-42. Continuing their season, boys and girls both traveled to Franklin on Friday, Jan. 26. Both teams added a win to their record with the girl’s final score being 36-33 and boys with 55-27.
Falcon basketball is coming round to competing in the Fort Kearney Conference Tournament. The girls started off round one by playing Elm Creek on Monday, Jan. 28. Although the girl’s fought hard, they lost with a final score 69-22. The boys started of their round one playing Pleasanton. Both teams played very hard, but Pleasanton won the night, the final score being 55-43.
The Falcon teams continued their season through winter break as they played Kenesaw and Elm Creek. Both teams were supposed to compete in the Holiday Tournament held in Kenesaw but was eventually cancelled due to weather conditions. The girls played Kenesaw on January 4th. The girls fought hard but ended up losing with a score of 61-31. The boys played next and also played tough, but ended up losing with a score of 59-43. Both teams continued their season by playing Elm Creek on January 5th. The two teams played well-fought games, but ended up losing. The final score of girls was 70-38 and the final score of the boys was 62-55. Good luck to both teams as they continue their season!
