The FFA chapter had a GREAT week last week! It is amazing to see all of the talent that our members possess!
Five senior members (Sam, Kayla, Keya, Addison, and Makayla) interviewed for their State FFA Degree. This degree is one of the highest honors a member can possess in FFA. To receive their state degree students must earn enough community service hours, leadership points (both FFA contests and events), as well as have a comprehensive Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project. These five seniors all passed their interview at the District level and should walk across the stage in April at the Nebraska State FFA Convention to receive their degrees!
Makayla Johnson was also selected as a STAR finalist in Placement and will compete against other students at the state level. STAR applicants have to fill out an extensive application about their SAE projects as well as interview at the district level. Once chosen at the district level students will be interviewed at the State level and selected based on quality of their application, SAE, and interview.
We had three students apply for a Proficiency Award. Students who compete in proficiencies fill out an application that is judged based on the knowledge and skills the student gains from their SAE. Alex Casper competed in the area of Diversified Crop Production and received a first place gold and will be competing at the state level. Spencer Jezbera competed in Diversified Livestock Production and received a bronze. Kayla Rupe competed in Diversified Ag Production and received first place gold in her division and will also be competing at the state level.
Kayla Rupe and Keya Knaus also received the news that they were selected to showcase their talent at the Nebraska State FFA Convention in April. These two girls will sing and play guitar to the song "Hallelujah".
If you see any of these members, make sure you congratulate them on their amazing accomplishments!
